Remembering Robert 'Rob' Werny: A Life of Passion and Dedication

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert 'Rob' Werny on February 28th, 2023, at Dartmouth General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Rob was a devoted husband, father, friend, and mentor who left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone he touched.

Born in Halifax on September 2nd, 1955, to Elizabeth (Betty) Francis McKeown (Starr), William Brett Peters, and stepfather Fred McKeown, Rob was a perfectionist at heart. He had a passion for life's many wonders, from music and woodworking to photography and model railroading.

Rob is fondly remembered by his family and friends as a loving father to Amy Elizabeth Peters and Robyn Leeanne Peters. His wife, Kathryn Leeanne Peters (MacDougall), was his partner in every sense of the word. Together, they shared many happy years, including vacations at their beloved cottage on Folly Lake.

In addition to his family, Rob's many interests and hobbies played a significant role in shaping who he was. He was an avid music enthusiast, with a treasured collection of vinyl records and a turntable that brought him endless joy. His love for cars, aircrafts, and boats knew no bounds, as did his fascination with computers and technology.

Professionally, Rob was a dedicated employee of Busy Bee Tools, where he served as Manager for 16 years. His expertise in audiovisual equipment and specifications earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. With a strong background in photography, Rob's skills were unparalleled, and he spent hours researching new techniques and technologies to stay ahead of the curve.

Throughout his life, Rob was known for his fairness, loyalty, and dedication to those around him. His commitment to his job was unwavering, often working extended hours whenever necessary. Despite his many accomplishments, Rob remained humble and kind, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement.

Rob's education reflected his diverse interests, with two years at NSIT in the Electrical Engineering Program, a Credited Photographic Program at SMU, and another Credited Photographic Program at NSCAD. His love for learning was contagious, inspiring those around him to pursue their passions with equal fervor.

As we say goodbye to this remarkable individual, we take comfort in the memories we shared with him. Rob may be gone, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the lessons he taught us about living life to the fullest. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time as they navigate their grief.
